Behandelaren in de GGZ worden in toenemende mate geconfronteerd met mensen met antisociale problematiek. Dit praktijkboek geeft handvatten voor de behandeling van mensen met antisociaal gedrag voortkomend uit persoonlijkheidsproblematiek. De handvatten zijn gebaseerd op wetenschappelijke kennis en best practices. Het boek is bedoeld voor psychologen, psychiaters, maatschappelijk werkenden en (sociaalpsychiatrisch) verpleegkundigen werkzaam binnen de reguliere en forensische GGZ.
Praktijkboek antisociaal gedrag en persoonlijkheidsproblematiek laat aan de hand van praktijkvoorbeelden zien hoe de behandelaar kan omgaan met specifieke behandelsituaties en hulpvragen als agressie, middelengebruik en suïcidaliteit. Daarnaast beschrijft het boek methodes om cliënten en hun sociale omgeving te helpen het antisociale gedrag te veranderen of er beter mee om te gaan. Ook wordt er aandacht besteed aan de emoties die deze cliënten oproepen bij behandelaren en aan de vraag hoe behandelaren hier effectief mee om kunnen gaan.
Het eerste deel beschrijft argumenten voor en tegen het behandelen van mensen met antisociaal gedrag of antisociale persoonlijkheidsproblematiek. Daarna worden de mogelijkheden van het doen van diagnostiek en risicotaxatie binnen de reguliere GGZ beschreven en wordt stilgestaan bij het belang van de therapeutische relatie. Vervolgens worden theorieën en technieken beschreven om de doelgroep te motiveren voor behandeling.
In het tweede deel staan de meer specifieke problematieken van de doelgroep centraal, zoals het voorkomen en behandelen van agressie, omgaan met verslavingsproblematiek en suïcidaliteit. Het derde deel beschrijft specifieke behandelmethodieken, waaronder Dialectische gedragstherapie, de forensische variant van Schemagerichte therapie, Farmacotherapie, Systeemtherapie en een meer outreachende benadering.
Praktijkboek antisociaal gedrag en persoonlijkheidsproblematiek is geschreven onder redactie van Dr. Madeleine Rijckmans, Dr. Arno van Dam en Dr. Wies van den Bosch. Zij werken alle drie als behandelaar in de klinische (forensische) praktijk en doen wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Ook zijn ze lid van het internationaal Podium Antisociaal Gedrag van waaruit ze proberen de behandelpraktijk voor deze doelgroep te verbeteren.

Models of dynamical systems are of great importance in almost all fields of science and engineering and specifically in control, signal processing and information science. A model is always only an approximation of a real phenomenon so that having an approximation theory which allows for the analysis of model quality is a substantial concern. The use of rational orthogonal basis functions to represent dynamical systems and stochastic signals can provide such a theory and underpin advanced analysis and efficient modelling. It also has the potential to extend beyond these areas to deal with many problems in circuit theory, telecommunications, systems, control theory and signal processing.
Nine international experts have contributed to this work to produce thirteen chapters that can be read independently or as a comprehensive whole with a logical line of reasoning:
Construction and analysis of generalized orthogonal basis function model structure;
System Identification in a time domain setting and related issues of variance, numerics, and uncertainty bounding;

This volume contains a selection of papers referring to lectures presented at the symposium "Operations Research 2004" (OR 2004) held at Tilburg University, September 1-3, 2004. This international conference took place under the auspices of the German Operations Research Society (GOR) and the Dutch Operations Research Society (NGB). The symposium had about 500 participants from more than 30 countries all over the world. It attracted academicians and practitioners working in various fields of Operations Research and provided them with the most recent ad vances in Operations Research and related areas in Economics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The program consisted of 4 plenary and 19 semi-plenary talks and more than 300 contributed presentations, selected by the program committee, to be presented in 20 sections. Due to a limited number of pages available for the proceedings volume, the length of each article as well as the total number of accepted contributions had to be restricted. Submitted manuscripts have therefore been reviewed and 59 of them have been selected for publication. We would like to thank the GOR-board for the abundant collaboration, which we always found to be helpful and fruitful. In addition a list of important symptoms or signs can be found at the end of the chapter which then refers either to the text, a table, a figure, an algorithm, a list of disorders, or a combination of these.
