En effet, ce balai de sorcière est le nom du foisonnement bleu-vert provoqué par un parasite qui donne aux rameaux des arbres attaqués, en l'occurrence les cacaoyers, l'aspect hirsute d'un balai et dont les conséquences pour le planteur (la stérilité de l'arbre) sont suffisamment sinistres pour évoquer la sorcière.
