This publication presents the results of the first OECD investment policy review of Vietnam. It finds that the progress Vietnam has achieved in less than two decades in putting into place a legal framework and implementing policies that mobilise private investment, including international direct investment, to support economic growth and the prosperity of Vietnam's citizens has been remarkable. Starting from a situation in which the economy was essentially closed to private and international investment, Vietnam is now considered to be one of the very attractive economies in the world for investment.

GUIDE PETIT FUTE ; THEMATIQUES : Best of Normandy

The majestic Mont-Saint-Michel, which attracts millions of curious people every year, stands almost as an international emblem for this beautiful and vast region. But Normandy is diverse, rich in its landscapes, culture and activities: tumultuous at Cap de la Hague, serene where the Seine meanders, steeped in history at Rouen, chic at Deauville, thermal at Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, original at Le Havre, resort-like at Granville. And of course there's the history: from William the Conqueror to the Allied landing during World War II. Though the price to pay was high, it is a real source of pride for the Normans to have played such a huge role in the liberation of Western Europe. The commemoration of these events holds a special place in the whole region. In short, if you don't have a precise agenda, let yourself drift along its paths and roads: this is perhaps the best way to discover Normandy and its way of life. Lovers of sport (nautical sport, of course, but not only), good meals, architectural discoveries, or just tranquility, Normandy is for you. With this guidebook, Petit Futé has done everything possible to give you a selection of addresses gathering the must-sees as well as the hidden treasures for a successful stay...

- 9782350736129
On the border between France and Spain, fought over for centuries, littered with castles, monasteries and tiny hilltop villages, divided by rivers and gorges, is the département of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Dominated by Canigou, the magical, mystical mountain, it is a sun-drenched land of vineyards and olive groves. Blessed with spectacular scenery, it is rich in art and history and, for walkers, cyclists, skiers, sailors, divers, swimmers, windsurfers and mountaineers, a paradise.
Jane Mann and Kate Hareng work together to produce P.-O. Life, the quarterly Anglophone magazine of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Both are passionate about the multi-faceted region in which they have chosen to live and know it intimately. In their book they invite you to explore and enjoy this southernmost corner of France, from high Pyrenean peaks to sparkling Mediterranean sea.
Jane has researched, photographed and collected a book-full of diverse and exciting places of interest for people of all ages and tastes to visit. Her descriptions are interspersed with Kate's useful vocabulary, French exercises, `Did-you-knows', tongue twisters and jokes.
Lavishly illustrated, the lively blend of information and essential facts make their helpful and instructive guide a must-have for visitors and residents alike. -

OECD reviews of risk management policies ; Japan ; large-scale floods and earthquakes
Collectif
- OECD
- 25 Février 2009
- 9789264050303
Damages to economic assets resulting from natural disasters have soared in the past fifteen years, and climate change models forecast intensified exposure to extreme weather in many OECD countries. This OECD review of risk management policies focuses on Japan, because the geography, topography and climate of its national territory subject it to serious natural hazards, especially seismic activity and typhoons. The report looks at Japan's policies in the areas of monitoring, preparing for and responding to floods and earthquakes, seeking out and identifying good practices and areas where improvements could be made. The case studies consider several issues of particular interest to policy makers, such as how to take climate change into account for long term policy planning related to large scale floods, and Japan's unique earthquake insurance scheme for damages whose probability and impact are hard to accurately assess.

Culture, leisure, relaxation: the north-east of Paris lives with and around the park, from the Grande Halle to the Zénith, from the Cité des Sciences to the Philharmonie, from attending shows and exhibitions to playing sports. Here is a place for discovery, amazement, release, but so are, by radiance, the surrounding neighbourhoods. It is impossible not to find something to your liking!

This fascinating account brings to life the history of Port-Vendres, a vital Mediterranean port from antiquity to the present day. This deep water harbour has always been a key location, close to the border between France and Spain, where the Pyrenees drop down into the Mediterranean. It has sheltered Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths and Moors, the French, the Spanish, as they traded and fought their way around the Mediterranean coast. Soldiers, sailors and fishermen have landed here for centuries, making this small town a veritable mirror of the Mediterranean world.
Author Jane Mann has been researching and observing it all from her vantage point facing the entrance to the port, and offers a delightful and intriguing picture of a place she has come to love and call her home. -
OECD's comprehensive review of rural policy in Italy. On average, rural regions in Italy have some of the highest GDP per capita among the OECD countries, yet unexploited potential remains. This analysis of rural Italy reveals heterogeneous economic conditions, an increasing elderly population and a diminished focus on environmental concerns. This suggests the need for a broader rural policy approach that reflects the changing demands upon rural resources and that considers other aspects of rurality including health, education and quality of life.

NOW A MAJOR NEW TV SERIES: CAROL DRINKWATER'S SECRET PROVENCE
The third in the bestselling story which began with THE OLIVE FARM - from the author of THE FORGOTTEN SUMMER
'Captures perfectly the dreamy atmosphere of the South of France and its people' WOMAN AND HOME
'Vibrant, intoxicating and heart-warming' SUNDAY EXPRESS
'The stars shimmer like spilled handfuls of glitter. The day is beginning to rise with a faint mist. As I turn my head, ghostly halos, auras of light, appear and disappear ... The silence is truly awesome. Not a bird, not a whisper of wind, not a breath of life. Only the two of us, a most implausible pair, standing shoulder to shoulder gazing upon an awakening heaven'
Returning to their home after an extended absence Carol and her husband Michel are looking forward to summer together on the farm. A shocking blow leaves Carol alone and the future is uncertain. Feeling isolated and with no olives to harvest, Carol ventures beyond the farm to explore other aspects of Provencal life - from hunting to bee-keeping, the ancient language to the ever-present demands of family and friends. And ultimately, Provence's generous diversity - and Carol's own persistence in sharing it with those she loves - paves a path to joy. -
